Description
The 2002 Case IH 2388 Axial-Flow combine harvester is a widely recognized and popular model known for its simplicity, performance, and the iconic Axial-Flow single-rotor design. Produced from 1998 to 2006, it's a successor to the 2188 and part of Case IH's successful 23-series.
Powered by a Case IH CDC 6TAA-8304 8.3L (505 cu in) 6-cylinder diesel engine — essentially a Cummins design renowned for reliability — rated at 285 hp (212.5 kW) with a Power Boost up to 325 hp (242 kW). Fuel capacity is approximately 180 gallons (680 L).
The Axial-Flow rotary system utilizes a single large longitudinal AFX rotor for both threshing and separating, with a 30-inch (762 mm) diameter, 110-inch (2794 mm) length, and speed range of 250–1125 rpm. This design is known for gentle grain handling and reduced damage.
Total sieve area is 7,947 sq inches (5.127 m²) with a Cross Flow cleaning fan running 450–1250 rpm. Standard grain tank holds 210 bushels with an unloading rate of 1.9 bu/sec.
The 2388 is often praised for its relatively simple design compared to later combines, making it a favorite among operators who prefer mechanical reliability and ease of maintenance. Common tire sizes: 24.5x32 drive tires, 14.9x24 steering tires.
