Description
The 2012 John Deere 1990CCS (Central Commodity System) air seeder continues John Deere's commitment to high-capacity and precise small grain and row crop planting. As a 2012 model, it benefits from ongoing refinements and updated software compared to earlier versions.
The large central bulk seed tank holds 150–300 bushels (5,285–10,572 L) for rapid single-point filling that dramatically reduces field downtime. Seed is volumetrically metered at the tank and pneumatically conveyed to individual row units by a hydraulic-fan air system ensuring consistent flow and minimal blockage. Continuous oscillation prevents seed bridging for smooth flow even with problematic crops like barley or rice.
Available working widths include 30 ft, 36 ft, 40 ft, and 42.5 ft. Row spacing options include 7.5 in, 10 in, and 15 in, with dual-row configurations for flexible crop rotation.
ProSeries™ Openers feature an 18-inch (45.72 cm) disc diameter for excellent soil penetration and consistent seed depth in a wide range of residue and soil conditions. Active Hydraulic Downforce (165–450 lbs/opener) ensures uniform depth across varying terrain from the cab. 4.5×16-inch depth-gauging wheels on each opener. 15-degree closing wheels in cast iron or rubber. Various color-coded meter rollers optimize metering for different seed types.
Technology includes SeedStar™ 2 CCS Monitor for in-cab seed population, fan speed, and blockage data. EPRC allows on-the-go rate adjustment for variable-rate prescriptions. Half-Width Disconnect reduces overlap and seed waste in irregular fields. Full GreenStar integration with compatible displays and AutoTrac™ steering. Optional Section Control for further overlap reduction. Heavy-duty wing-fold frame with high-flotation tires (31×13.50-15) minimizes soil compaction in no-till environments.
